When Joseph saw his brothers, he recognized them, but he treated them like strangers and spoke harshly to them. “Where do you come from?” he said. They said, “From the land of Canaan, to buy food.” Although Joseph had recognized his brothers, they did not recognize him. (New Revised Standard Version)

이번주일 아이들 설교말씀은 기근으로 부터 가족을 구한 요셉의 이야기 입니다. 요셉은 이집트의 총리가 되었고, 7년간의 기근으로 인하여 주변 나라들의 사람들은 이집트로 와서 곡식을 사가야만 했습니다. 이 사실을 알게된 요셉은 자신의 아들들을 시켜 이집트로 가서 곡식을 사고라고 시켰습니다. 요셉은 자신을 찾아온 열 형제들을 단번에 알아봤지만 형제들은 요셉을 알아보지 못하였습니다. 요셉은 형들을 시험하기 위하여 정탐꾼이 아닌지 물어보았고 형들은 자신들은 열 두 형제이고 곡식을 사기 위하여 이집트로 왔다고 하였습니다. 요셉은 형들을 삼일동안 감옥에 가둔 뒤 막내동생을 데려오라고 하며 한명의 형제를 남기고 그들을 가나안 땅으로 돌려보냈습니다. 요셉의 형제들은 다시 막내 아들인 벤자민을 이집트로 데리고 왔습니다. 그 날 밤 요셉은 만찬을 열어 형제들과 먹은 뒤에 자신 요셉이라고 소개하고 이 모든 일들이 하나님께서 인도하신 일이라고 고백하였습닌다. 요셉은 비록 인생의 고난과 역경을 겪었지만, 하나님을 믿으며 하나님과 함께 하였습니다. 그렇기에 요셉은 기근을 겪고있던 많은 사람들과 그의 가족들을 구할 수 있었습니다. 우리 아이들도 요셉과 같은 믿음의 자녀들 되기를 기도합니다.

The sermon for this Sunday is about Joseph who saved his family from the famine. After Joseph became the prime minister of Egypt, people who lived nearby came to buy grain from Egypt. Jacob also sent his sons to Egypt for food. Joseph recognized his brothers, but they did not know the prime minister was their brother. Joseph tested his brothers by accusing them as spies and putting them in prison for three days. They were sent back to Canaan to bring their youngest brother, Benjamin, while leaving one of them in prison until they came back. When they returned to Egypt with their youngest son, Joseph invited them, had meal together, and revealed himself to his brothers. Joseph said that even though he had suffered and experienced many difficulties throughout his life, God was with him and helped him. He was always with God and trusted Him. We hope our children become children of faith like Joseph, who had overcome his sufferings with God among difficult times.

이에 바로가 사람을 보내어 요셉을 부르매 그들이 급히 그를 옥에서 내 놓은지라. 요셉이 곧 수염을 깎고 그의 옷을 갈아 입고 바로에게 들어가니 바로가 요셉에게 이르되 내가 한 꿈을 꾸었으나 그것을 해석하는 자가 없더니 들은즉 너는 꿈을 들으면 능히 푼다 하더라. 요셉이 바로에게 대답하여 이르되 내가 아니라 하나님께서 바로에게 편안한 대답을 하시리이다. (새번역)

Then Pharaoh sent for Joseph, and he was hurriedly brought out of the dungeon. When he had shaved himself and changed his clothes, he came in before Pharaoh. And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I have had a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it. I have heard it said of you that when you hear a dream you can interpret it.” Joseph answered Pharaoh, “It is not I; God will give Pharaoh a favorable answer.” (New Revised Standard Version)

이번주일 아이들 설교말씀은 꿈을 해석하는 요셉의 이야기 입니다. 형들에 의해 노예로 팔려간 요셉은 이집트로 가 바로왕의 군사인 보디발의 집으로 팔려가게 되었습니다. 하나님께서 요셉과 함께 하셔 보디발의 집에 복을 내리셨고 요셉은 주인에게 인정을 받아 그 집을 총 관리하는 직책을 얻게 되었습니다. 보디발의 아내가 요셉을 유혹하였지만 요셉은 거절을 하였고, 모함으로 인해 요셉은 감옥에 갇히게 되었습니다. 감옥에서 요셉은 두 관원장들의 꿈을 해석하였고 그 꿈의 해석 덕분에 결국 바로왕의 꿈까지 해석하는 기회를 가지게 되었습니다. 요셉은 꿈을 해석하였고 바로왕은 그 지혜와 하나님이 요셉과 함께 하심을 믿었습니다. 바로는 요셉을 이집트의 총리로 세우고 요셉은 새로운 삶을 살게 되었습니다. 비록 요셉이 총리가 되어 영광을 받았지만 그는 시련의 삶 가운데에도 하나님께서 함께 하심을 믿으며 모든 순간 하나님과 함께 하였습니다. 우리 아이들도 날마다의 삶 가운데 함께 하시는 하나님을 믿으며 주님의 말씀에 순종하며 따르는 믿음의 자녀들 되기를 기도합니다.

The sermon for this Sunday is about the story of Joseph who interpreted dreams. Joseph, who was sold as a slave by his brothers, was sent to the house of Potiphar, a soldier of Pharaoh. God was with Joseph and blessed the house of Potiphar. Potiphar trusted Joseph and gave authority to govern his entire housework. Potiphar’s wife tempted Joseph to do wrong, but when Joseph refused, she was angry and lied to Potiphar that Joseph made a mistake to her. Potiphar believed his wife and sent Joseph to jail. In the jail, Joseph interpreted the dreams of Pharaoh’s two officers and finally got a chance to interpret the dreams of Pharaoh. When Joseph explained his dreams, Pharaoh was amazed and believed that God and His wisdom were with Joseph. Joseph was appointed as the prime minister of Egypt and was able to start his new life. Although Joseph was honored as a prime minister, he believed that God was with him during the life of his suffering and was with God in every moment. We pray that our children believe in God in their daily lives and become children of faith who obey God even in difficult situations.

이스라엘은 늘그막에 요셉을 얻었으므로, 다른 아들들보다 요셉을 더 사랑하여서, 그에게 화려한 옷을 지어서 입혔다. 형들은 아버지가 그를 자기들보다 더 사랑하는 것을 보고서 요셉을 미워하며, 그에게 말 한 마디도 다정스럽게 하는 법이 없었다. 한 번은 요셉이 꿈을 꾸고서 그것을 형들에게 말한 일이 있는데, 그 일이 있은 뒤로부터 형들은 그를 더욱더 미워하였다. (새번역)

이번주일 아이들 설교말씀은 형제들에 의해 노예로 팔려간 요셉의 이야기입니다. 야곱은 열 두명의 자녀가 있었음에도 요셉을 특별히 사랑하였습니다. 야곱은 요셉에게만 채색 옷을 지어주어 그의 형제들은 요셉을 질투하였습니다. 어느날 요셉은 자신의 꿈을 형들에게 말하였는데, 그 꿈은 열 두 단의 곡식이 있었는데 자신의 단은 일어나고 형제들의 것들이 요셉의 단을 둘러싸 절을 했다는 꿈이었습니다. 이 이야기를 들은 요셉의 형들은 더욱 요셉을 미워하게 되었습니다. 요셉은 다른 꿈 하나를 말했는데 그 꿈은 해, 달, 그리고 열 하나의 별이 요셉에게 절을 한다는 꿈이었습니다. 이 꿈의 이야기를 들은 그의 형제들은 더더욱 요셉을 미워하게 되었습니다. 그러던 어느날, 야곱은 요셉을 불러 양을 치는 형제들이 잘 있는지 확인을 하라고 보냈습니다. 멀리서 요셉이 오는것을 본 형제들은 그를 죽이자고 하였습니다. 하지만 그의 첫째 형 르우벤은 죽이는 것 대신 구덩이에 넣어두자고 제안을 하였고 그들은 그러기로 하였습니다. 그 때 이집트로 내려가는 상인들을 본 요셉의 형제들은 은 이십에 요셉을 노예로 팔아버렸습니다. 그들은 요셉의 채색옷에 피를 묻혀 야곱에게 가져가 그가 동물들에 의해 죽었다고 말하였습니다. 비록 요셉은 이집트의 노예로 팔려갔지만, 하나님께서는 여전히 당신의 계획을 기억하시고 계셨습니다. 비록 우리 아이들이 어려움을 당하더라도 실망하지 않고 하나님의 계획을 신뢰하는 믿음의 자녀들이 되기를 소망합니다.

The sermon for this Sunday is about the story of Joseph, who was sold by his brothers. Even though Jacob had twelve children, he especially loved Joseph. Joseph only received a colorful rove from Jacob, and his brothers were jealous of him. One day, Joseph told his brothers about a dream he had that Joseph’s grain stood up and his brothers’ bundles bowed down to his. It meant that Joseph would rule over his brothers. He told another dream to his brothers that he saw the sun, moon, and eleven stars bowing to him. This dream meant all of Joseph’s family – his brothers, his mother, and his father – would one day bow down to Joseph. Joseph’s brothers who heard this story hated him and became more jealous and angry. When Jacob sent Joseph one day to check on his brothers tending the sheep, his brothers discussed and decided to kill him. But Joseph’s oldest brother, Reuben, did not want to kill Joseph and suggested throwing him into a pit. At the same time, they saw a caravan of people heading to Egypt. Joseph’s brothers decided to sell him to the travelers as a slave for twenty pieces of silver. The travelers took Joseph to Egypt, and Joseph suddenly became a slave. The brothers dipped Joseph’s colorful robe in blood and took it back to their father. Jacob recognized the robe and believed that a wild animal killed Joseph. Jacob cried loudly because he thought his favorite son was dead. Although Joseph was in a difficult situation, God was still with Joseph and had God’s plan through him. I hope that even though our children go through difficult times, they would be the children of faith who trust God’s plan for them.

이삭이 야곱을 불러서, 그에게 복을 빌어 주고 당부하였다. “너는 가나안 사람의 딸들 가운데서 아내를 맞이하지 말아라. 이제 곧 밧단아람에 계시는 브두엘 외할아버지 댁으로 가서, 거기에서 너의 외삼촌 라반의 딸들 가운데서 네 아내가 될 사람을 찾아서 결혼하여라. 전능하신 하나님이 너에게 복을 주셔서, 너로 생육하고 번성하게 하시고, 마침내 네가 여러 민족을 낳게 하실 것이다. (새번역)

Go at once to Paddan-aram to the house of Bethuel, your mother’s father; and take as wife from there one of the daughters of Laban, your mother’s brother. 이번주일 아이들 설교말씀은 야곱의 도망과 결혼입니다. 이삭의 축복을 훔친 야곱은 에서의 위협을 피해 리브가의 오빠인 라반의 집으로 도망갔습니다. 라반의 동네로 가는 여정 가운데 하나님께서는 야곱을 찾아오셔 아브라함과의 언약을 야곱을 통해 이어가시겠다고 약속하셨습니다. 라반의 집에 도착한 야곱은 라반을 도와 가축을 돌보았고 칠년을 일하는 대가로 라반의 둘째 딸 라헬과 결혼하기로 하였습니다. 7년이 지나고 라반은 야곱의 결혼을 위해 축제를 열었는데, 그날 밤 라반은 야곱의 방에 라헬 대신 레아를 아내로 삼게 하였습니다. 다음날 아침 야곱을 그제서야 자신의 아내가 라헬이 아닌 레아임을 알게되었습니다. 야곱은 라반에게 따졌고 라반은 고장의 전통이 큰 딸부터 결혼을 해야한다고 말하고 라헬 또한 부인으로 줄테니 7년간 더 일하라고 하였습니다. 야곱은 이를 받아들이고 레아와 라헬을 아내로 받아들였습니다. 야곱은 레아보다 라헬을 더 사랑하였지만 하나님의 계획, 즉 예수그리스도의 계보는 레아의 자손 유다를 통해서 이루어졌습니다. 야곱이 하나님의 모든 뜻을 알지는 못하였지만, 그럼에도 불구하고 하나님께 순종하며 그 뜻을 따랐습니다. 우리 아이들도 야곱과 같이 늘 주님의 말씀에 귀 기울이고 순종으로 답하는 믿음의 자녀들 되기를 기도합니다.

The sermon for this Sunday is about Jacob’s escape and marriage. Jacob who stole the blessing of Isaac escaped from the threat of Esau to his uncle Laban’s house. On his way, God came to Jacob and promised that God will keep the covenant with Abraham through Jacob. When Jacob arrived at Laban’s house, he helped Laban to take care of the livestocks and got the permission to marry Rachel, the younger daughter of Laban, after serving for seven years. After seven years, Laban had a feast for the wedding of Jacob and Rachel, but that night Laban sent Leah into Jacob’s room instead of Rachel. Next day early in the morning, Jacob realized that his wife was Leah. He was upset and asked why Laban had tricked him. The tradition of the tribe was to have the older daughter marry first. Laban promised to give Rachel if Jacob worked for seven more years. Jacob accepted and had Rachel. Jacob loved Rachel more than Leah, but God’s plan, the genealogy of Jesus Christ, was accomplished through Judah, the fourth son of Leah. Although Jacob did not know everything about God’s plan, he always trusted and followed. We pray that our children will always be the children of faith like Jacob who listen to God’s words and respond with obedience.

이번주일 아이들 설교는 하나님의 아들 예수그리스도의 이야기 입니다. 예수님이 하나님의 아들임을 믿나요? 어떻게 이것을 믿을 수 있나요? 비록 우리는 하나님, 예수님, 그리고 성령님을 볼 수는 없지만, 마음의 눈인 믿음을 통해 우리는 그 사실들을 확신하고 있습니다. 기도 가운데 우리를 만져 주시는 하나님의 손길을 통해서도 우리는 하나님을 느낄 수 있습니다. 또한 성경은 우리에게 하나님에 대해서 말해주고 있습니다. 예수님이 태어나시던 시대에 사람들은 로마로부터 자신들의 땅을 되찾아줄 다윗왕과 같은 용감한 장수 왕을 기다렸습니다. 그들에게 구원이란 하나님께서 약속하신 땅으로 가 하나님의 도움의 손길 아래 거하는 것이었습니다. 하지만 그들의 기대와는 다르게 예수님께서는 세상의 가장 낮은 곳으로 오셨습니다. 그는 평화의 왕으로 오셨습니다. 예수님이 말씀하신 하나님 나라는 사람들이 기대하는 것과는 사뭇 달랐습니다. 하나님 나라는 이 땅에서의 삶 뿐만 아니라 영원한 천국까지 하나님 나라임을 말씀해 주셨습니다. 하지만 하나님 나라에 거하기 위해서는 하나님 앞에 죄가 없는 순결한 사람이어야 하나님의 나라의 백성이 될 수 있습니다. 이것이 왜 예수님께서 이 땅에 오셔서 우리의 죄를 용서해주신 가장 중요한 이유입니다. 그렇기에 크리스마스는 영원한 죄로부터 우리를 구원해주신 예수님께서 오신 날이기 때문에 기쁜 날입니다. 아이들이 예수님의 의미를 알고 또한 다시 오실 예수님을 기대하며 살아가는 믿음의 자녀들이 되기를 소망합니다.

The sermon for this Sunday is about the story of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Do you believe that Jesus is the son of God? How can you believe it? Although we haven’t seen heavenly God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit, we believe that God created the world, Jesus is the Son of God, and the Holy Spirit is with us by faith, the eyes of the heart. When we pray to God, we can feel the teachings of God, and the Holy Bible tells about God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. When Jesus was born, Israelites had been waiting the Messiah like king David, who is strong enough to bring back their promised land from Rome. For Israelites, salvation meant going back to the promised land and living under God’s protection. However, unlike their expectations, Jesus came to the lowest place in the world as a King of Peace. The kingdom of God that Jesus spoke about was quite different from what people expected. He said the kingdom of God was not only a life on earth but life in the eternal kingdom of God in heaven. In order to live there, we must be pure without sin before God. This is the most important reason why Jesus came to this world and forgave our eternal sins. This is why Christmas is a joyful day. We hope our children will understand the true meaning of Christmas and become children of faith who live with the expectation of Jesus coming again.
