1 When Joseph was taken to Egypt by the Ishmaelite traders, he was purchased by Potiphar, an Egyptian officer. Potiphar was captain of the guard for Pharaoh, the king of Egypt.
2 The LORD was with Joseph, so he succeeded in everything he did as he served in the home of his Egyptian master.
3 Potiphar noticed this and realized that the LORD was with Joseph, giving him success in everything he did.
4 This pleased Potiphar, so he soon made Joseph his personal attendant. He put him in charge of his entire household and everything he owned.
5 From the day Joseph was put in charge of his master’s household and property, the LORD began to bless Potiphar’s household for Joseph’s sake. All his household affairs ran smoothly, and his crops and livestock flourished.
6 So Potiphar gave Joseph complete administrative responsibility over everything he owned. With Joseph there, he didn’t worry about a thing – except what kind of food to eat! Joseph was a very handsome and well-built young man. Continue reading
God’s Covenant with David
“For when you die and are buried with your ancestors, I will raise up one of your descendants, your own offspring, and I will make his kingdom strong. He is the one who will build a house—a temple—for my name. And I will secure his royal throne forever. I will be his father, and he will be my son. If he sins, I will correct and discipline him with the rod, like any father would do. But my favor will not be taken from him as I took it from Saul, whom I removed from your sight. Your house and your kingdom will continue before me for all time, and your throne will be secure forever.” (New Living Translation)
The sermon for this Sunday worship is about God’s covenant with David. God chose David to be the second king of Israel, and David loved and always prayed to God. David lived in his beautiful place, but the ark of God was in the tent. David wanted to build a temple for the ark of God, but God did not allow him to do it himself. Instead, God promised to build a temple through David’s son and let his son continue David’s kingdom forever. God fulfilled His covenant through Jesus and is still with us. We pray that our children become children of faith who always trust and obey the words of God.
