제목: 물 위를 걸은 베드로 Peter Who Walked on the Water
본문말씀: 마태복음 (Matthew) 14:28-30

베드로가 예수께 말하였다. “주님, 주님이시면, 나더러 물 위로 걸어서, 주님께로 오라고 명령하십시오.” 예수께서 “오너라!” 하고 말씀하셨다. 베드로는 배에서 내려, 물 위로 걸어서, 예수께로 갔다. 그러나 베드로는 [거센] 바람이 불어오는 것을 보고, 무서움에 사로잡혀서, 물에 빠져 들어가게 되었다. 그 때에 그는 “주님, 살려 주십시오” 하고 외쳤다.

Peter answered him, ‘Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.’  He said, ‘Come.’ So Peter got out of the boat, started walking on the water, and came towards Jesus. But when he noticed the strong wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, ‘Lord, save me!’

이번 주일 아이들 설교말씀은 물 위를 걸은 베드로의 이야기 입니다. 예수님께서는 어부였던 베드로를 제자로 부르셨고, 베드로는 예수님이 가시는 모든 곳을 따라가며 예수님께서 행하신 많은 기적들을 보고 경험했습니다. 예수님께서 오병이어의 기적을 보이신 날 밤 제자들에게 강 건너편으로 가게 하시고는 무리를 집으로 돌려 보내시고는 홀로 기도를 하러 산에 올라가셨습니다. 그 밤 제자들이 타고 있던 배는 거친 파도를 만나 어려움을 겪고 있었습니다. 그 밤 새벽 예수님께서는 바다 위를 걸으셔 제자들에게 걸어갔습니다. 그 모습을 본 제자들은 유령이라 생각하여 놀라 소리쳤습니다. 예수님께서는 본인을 나타내시고 제자들을 안심 시키셨습니다. 이에 베드로는 자신 또한 물 위를 걷게 해달라고 예수님께 청하였고, 예수님은 베드로에게 물 위로 오라 하셨습니다. 한 발을 떼어 물 위를 걸어 예수님께로 가는 그 순간 불어오는 바람에 베드로는 곧 두려워 물에 빠지게 되었습니다. 예수님의 기적을 경험하는 중에도 베드로는 불어오는 바람에 마음이 두려워져 물에 빠지게 되었습니다. 그는 다시 예수님께 살려달라 소리쳤고 예수님께서는 베드로에게 손 내미셔 베드로를 구(원)해 주셨습니다. 물 위를 걷는 베드로의 이야기를 통해 아이들이 늘 주님을 신뢰하며, 날마다 주님의 인도하시는 나날을 주님의 기적으로 여기며 자라기를 소망합니다.

The sermon for this Sunday is about the story of Peter walking on the water. Jesus called Peter, a fisherman, his disciple, and Peter followed everywhere Jesus went, experiencing and seeing many miracles Jesus has done. The night Jesus showed the miracle of the five loaves and two fishes, he told his disciples to go to the other side of the river. He sent the crowd home and went up to the hill to pray alone. That night, the boat that the disciples were riding was having trouble with rough waves and wind. Early in the morning, Jesus walked on the water to his disciples. The disciples who saw him screamed because they thought it was a ghost walking towards them. Jesus revealed himself and relieved his disciples. Peter asked Jesus to let him walk on the water. When Jesus told him to come, he took one step and walked on the water towards Jesus, but soon felt afraid of the wind and waves and sank down into the water. Even while experiencing the miracles of Jesus, Peter was afraid. Peter cried out to Jesus, and Jesus gave him a hand and saved him. Through the story of Peter, we hope our children learn to always trust in the Lord and grow up every day in the miracles of the Lord.

Which of these three, do you think, was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of the robbers?’ He said, ‘The one who showed him mercy.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Go and do likewise.’(New Revised Standard Version)

이번 주일 아이들 설교말씀은 선한 사마리아인 비유 이야기입니다. 예수님께서는 제자들과 무리들을 가르치실 때에 비유를 통하여 말씀하셨습니다. 그 안에는 원칙적인 율법이 아닌 인간을 향한 하나님의 사랑을 언제나 포함하고 있었습니다. 한 율법교사는 예수님을 시험하기 위해 무엇을 하여야 영생을 얻는지 질문을 하였고, 예수님께서는 율법교사에게 되물으셔 하나님을 사랑하고 이웃을 사랑하는 것이 그 답이라고 말씀하셨습니다. 이에 그는 다시 한 번 그렇다면 누가 나의 이웃입니까? 질문하였습니다. 이에 예수님은 선한 사마리아인의 비유를 통하여 타인의 고통과 슬픔 앞에 무관심한 성직자와 레위 사람이 강도 당한 사람의 이웃이 아니라, 오히려 유대인들로부터 부정하게 여겨졌던 사마리아 사람이 강도 당한 사람의 이웃임을 말씀해주시며 연민이 없는 마음과 사랑이 없는 율법을 꼬집으셨습니다. 그리고 또한 “너도 가서 이와 같이 하라” 말씀하셨습니다. 우리 아이들이 날마다 하나님의 사랑을 마음에 품고 친구들과 가족을 넘어 하나님의 형상으로 지음 받은 모든 사람들과 함께 기뻐하고 아파하는 주님의 자녀 되기를 소망합니다.

The sermon for this Sunday is about the parable of the Good Samaritan. Jesus taught his disciples and followers through parables. It always talked about the love of God for man, instead of the principle of the law. A lawyer asked to test Jesus, “What must I do to inherit eternal life?”, and Jesus led him to answer that he should love God and love your neighbor through the mouth of a law teacher. Once again he asked who his neighbors were. Through the parable of the Good Samaritan, Jesus revealed that the priest and Levite, who were indifferent to the suffering of others, were not neighbors of those who were stolen, but the Samaritan, who was denied by the Jews, was a neighbor of a robbed man. Jesus pinched the lack of compassion and the law without love. Jesus also said, “go and do likewise.” We hope that our children will be the children of God who will rejoice and sympathize with all those who are born in the image of God beyond their family or friends.

이번 주일 아이들 설교말씀은 이사야 선지자 이야기입니다. 솔로몬 왕의 불순종의 벌로 하나님께서는 이스라엘을 둘로 나누셨습니다. 솔로몬에 이은 남유다와 북이스라엘은 갈등을 겪었고 여전히 이방 신을 섬기는 범죄를 저질렀습니다. 이러한 어두운 시대에 선지자 엘리야는 하나님의 말씀을 온전히 전하였습니다. 특히나 엘리야는 아합 왕에게 이방신들의 헛됨을 증명하기 위해 갈멜산에서 어느 신이 진짜 전능한 신인지 증명하자고 제안하였습니다. 여호와를 섬기는 선지자는 엘리야 뿐이었지만 바알신을 섬기는 선지자들은 사백오십명이나 되었습니다. 두개의 제단을 준비하고 각자의 제사를 지냈습니다. 바알신을 섬기는 제사장들은 바알의 이름을 부르며 소리치고, 몸에 상처를 내 피를 내며 제사를 지냈지만 아무 소용이 없었습니다. 엘리야의 차례에 그는 심지어 제단에 물을 부어 불이 붙을 수조차 없게 만들었습니다. 하지만 그가 하나님을 부를 때에 하나님께서는 불을 내려주셔 엘리야의 제사를 받아주시고 하나님만이 전능한 신임을 증명해주셨습니다. 엘리야의 이야기를 통해서 아이들이 세상이 쫓는 바알신(풍요의 신)이 아닌, 하나님만이 참 우리의 주인 되시는 한 분 신임을 배우기를 원합니다. 날마다 아이들이 교회와 가정에서 기도하며 말씀으로 자라나는 믿음의 자녀 되기를 기도합니다.

The sermon for this Sunday is about the story of Prophet Elijah and the prophets of Baal. God divided Israel in two because of King Solomon’s disobedience. After Solomon, Southern Judah and Northern Israel had conflicts and committed sins of serving idols. In this dark age, Prophet Elijah fully conveyed the words of God. In particular, Elijah proposed to King Ahab to prove on Mount Carmel which god is truly the almighty God. Elijah was the only prophet serving Wahweh, but there were 450 prophets who served Baal. They prepared two altars and had sacrifices for each. The priests who worshiped Baal were calling out the name of Baal – shouting, hurting their bodies, giving blood, and sacrificing, but nothing happened. When it was Elijah’s turn, he even poured water on the altar, making it impossible to have fire. However, when he called out for God, God sent down fire to receive the sacrifice of Elijah and proved His omnipotence. Through Prophet Elijah’s story, we hope our children learn that Baal (the God of abundance) whom people worshipped is not our god, but God Wahweh alone is our true God. We pray that our children will be the children of faith who grow in the words of God and pray at church and home every day.

그러므로 하나님께서 그에게 말씀하셨다. “네가 스스로를 생각하여 오래 사는 것이나 부유한 것이나 원수갚는 것을 요구하지 아니하고, 다만 재판하는 데에, 듣고서 무엇이 옳은지 분별하는 능력을 요구하였으므로, 이제 나는 네 말대로, 네게 지혜롭고 총명한 마음을 준다. 너와 같은 사람이 너보다 앞에도 없었고, 네 뒤에도 없을 것이다.” (새번역 성경)

God said to him, “Because you have asked this, and have not asked for yourself long life or riches, or for the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern what is right, I now do according to your word. 이번 주일 아이들 말씀은 솔로몬 왕의 이야기 입니다. 다윗 왕에 이어 솔로몬은 이스라엘의 세 번째 왕이 되었습니다. 솔로몬은 천 번이나 열심을 다해 하나님께 예배를 드렸고, 하나님께서는 솔로몬의 꿈에 나타나셔 솔로몬에게 원하는 것을 주시겠다고 하셨습니다. 솔로몬은 재물도, 장수 하는 것도, 원수의 생명을 취하는 것도 아닌 지혜를 달라고 하였습니다. 이에 하나님께서는 솔로몬에게 지혜를 주셨고 뿐만 아니라 부귀와 영광까지 허락하셨습니다. 솔로몬은 또한 하나님께 예배드릴 아름다운 성전을 건축하였고, 성전에는 여호와의 영광이 가득하였습니다. 하지만 솔로몬 또한 하나님 앞에 죄를 범하였습니다. 이방 여인들을 사랑한 솔로몬은 수많은 이방 여인들을 아내로 삼았고 또한 이방의 신들을 섬기는 죄를 범하였습니다. 하나님은 솔로몬의 불순종의 벌로 솔로몬의 아들 대로부터의 왕권을 거두어 가셨습니다. 솔로몬의 이야기를 통하여 아이들이 하나님을 아는 것이 지혜의 근원이 됨을 배우기를 소망합니다. 또한 언제나 하나님 앞에 정직하고 하나님 말씀에 순종하는 아이들이 되기를 기도합니다.

The sermon for this Sunday is about the story of King Solomon. Following David, Solomon became the third king of Israel. Solomon worshiped God a thousand times, and God appeared to Solomon in a dream that God would give him what he wanted. Solomon asked for wisdom, instead of wealth, longevity, or taking the life of the enemy. So, God gave Solomon wisdom, as well as wealth and glory. Solomon built a beautiful temple to worship God, which was filled with the glory of the Lord. However, Solomon also sinned before God. Solomon, who loved the women of the Gentiles, had many gentile women as his wives and also served idols. God took the throne away from Solomon’s son, as a punishment for Solomon’s disobedience. Through the story of Solomon, we hope our children would learn that knowing God is the source of wisdom. We also pray that our children will always be honest before God and be obedient to the words of God.

이번 주일 아이들 말씀은 왕이 된 다윗의 이야기입니다. 사울 왕에 이어 다윗은 이스라엘의 두 번째 왕이 되었습니다. 왕이 된 이후에도 다윗은 언제나 하나님을 신뢰하였고 이스라엘은 경제적, 군사적으로 힘이 있는 나라가 되었습니다. 이러한 상황 가운에서도 다윗은 자만하지 않고 언제나 하나님 앞에 겸손한 모습으로 감사의 예배와 기도를 드렸습니다. 특히 다윗은 하나님을 향한 자신의 마음과 상황을 언제나 시와 노래로 적었습니다. 시편 중에 많은 시들은 하나님을 향한 다윗의 감사함의 고백이었고 뿐만 아니라 자신의 어려운 상황의 고백까지, 다윗은 자신의 모든 삶을 하나님 앞에 고백하였습니다. 다윗 왕의 이야기를 통해 우리 아이들도 늘 하나님 앞에 감사함을 고백하는 아이들이 되기를 기도합니다. 때로는 감사하기 어려운 상황 가운데서도 아이들이 하나님 앞에 자신의 상황을 고백하며 하나님의 인도하심을 구하는 믿음의 자녀가 되기를 소망합니다.

Tomorrow’s sermon is about King David. After King Saul died, David became the second king of Israel. Even after David became the king of Israel, he always trusted God, and Israel became a powerful country in military and economy. Among these situations, David was never proud of himself but worshiped and praised God with a humble heart before God. He especially confessed his love toward God in songs and poems. Many of the poems in Psalms were not only the confession of David’s gratitude toward God but of his difficult circumstances. David confessed all his life before God. Through the story of King David, we pray that our children would always have and confess their gratitude to God. Even when it is hard to be thankful, we hope that our children bring their situation to God and become children of faith who seek the guidance of God.
