여호와께서는 솔로몬에게 다른 신을 따르지 말라고 명령하셨지만, 솔로몬은 여호와의 명령에 복종하지 않았습니다. 그래서 여호와께서는 솔로몬에게 “너는 나와 맺은 언약을 어기고 내 명령을 따르지 않았다. 그러므로 나는 네 나라를 너에게서 빼앗아 네 신하에게 줄 것이다. 그러나 네가 살아 있는 동안에는 그렇게 하지 않겠다. 왜냐하면 내가 네 아버지 다윗을 사랑하기 때문이다. 네 아들이 왕이 될 때에 이 나라를 갈라 놓겠다. (쉬운성경)
He had warned Solomon specifically about worshiping other gods, but Solomon did not listen to the LORD ’s command. So now the LORD said to him, “Since you have not kept my covenant and have disobeyed my decrees, I will surely tear the kingdom away from you and give it to one of your servants. “저에게 주님의 백성을 다스릴 수 있도록 옳고 그름을 가려 판결할 수 있는 지혜를 주십시오. 주께서 지혜를 주지 않으시면 이렇게 많은 주님의 백성을 어떻게 다스릴 수 있겠습니까?” 주께서는 솔로몬이 지혜를 달라고 하자 기뻐하셨습니다. (쉬운성경)

이번주일 아이들 설교말씀은 솔로몬의 지혜입니다. 다윗왕의 통치는 그 마지막에 이르렀고, 이스라엘은 새로운 왕을 맞을 준비가 되었습니다. 하나님께서는 나단 선지자를 부르시고 솔로몬에게 기름을 부으셨습니다. 솔로몬은 이스라엘의 왕이 되었고, 이스라엘을 다스렸습니다. 그가 왕위에 오른 뒤, 그는 하나님을 찬양하였고, 그의 온 마음을 다하여 하나님께 수많은 희생제사를 올려드렸습니다. 어느날 밤, 하나님께서는 솔로몬의 꿈에 찾아오셨고, 그에게 원하는 어떤것이라도 주시겠다고 하셨습니다. 솔로몬은 재물, 장수를 구하지 않고 지혜를 구했습니다. 하나님께서는 솔로몬에게 지혜뿐만 아니라 재물, 장수, 그리고 명예까지 허락하셨습니다. 우리 아이들도 하나님 앞에 지혜를 구하는 믿음의 어린이들 되기를 기도합니다.
