본문말씀: 열왕기하 2 Kings 2:9-11

강을 건넌 뒤에 엘리야가 엘리사에게 말했습니다. “여호와께서 나를 데려가시기 전에 내가 너에게 무엇을 해 주기를 원하느냐?” 엘리사가 말했습니다. “선생님의 영적인 능력에 두 배를 나에게 주십시오.” 엘리야가 말했습니다. “어려운 것을 구하는구나. 그러나 여호와께서 나를 데려가시는 것을 네가 보면, 그것을 받을 수 있을 것이다. 하지만 보지 못하면, 받지 못할 것이다.” 엘리야와 엘리사가 걸어가며 이야기하고 있을 때에 불전차와 불말들이 나타나 두 사람을 갈라 놓았습니다. 그러자 엘리야가 회오리바람을 타고 하늘로 올라갔습니다. When they came to the other side, Elijah said to Elisha, “Tell me what I can do for you before I am taken away.” And Elisha replied, “Please let me inherit a double share of your spirit and become your successor.” “You have asked a difficult thing,” Elijah replied. “If you see me when I am taken from you, then you will get your request. But if not, then you won’t.” As they were walking along and talking, suddenly a chariot of fire appeared, drawn by horses of fire. It drove between the two men, separating them, and Elijah was carried by a whirlwind into heaven. (New Living Translation)

이번주일 아이들 설교말씀은 엘리야와 엘리사 이야기입니다. 이 땅에서의 엘리야의 삶은 거의 끝나갔습니다. 하나님께서는 그의 사역을 넘겨줄 다른 사람을 찾으셨습니다. 하나님께서는 엘리야에게 엘리사를 찾을 것을 명령하셨습니다. 그후 십년간 엘리야는 엘리사에게 그가 아는 모든 하나님에 대한 지식과 예언자의 일들을 가르쳤습니다. 마침내 엘리사는 엘리야의 일을 받을 준비가 됐습니다. 엘리야가 하늘로 올라갈 준비가 됐을 때, 그는 엘리사에게 무엇을 원하냐고 물어봤습니다. 엘리사는 엘리야가 가지고 있던 영적 능력의 두배를 받기를 원한다고 하였습니다. 갑자기 하늘에서 불마차와 말들이 나타났고, 소용돌이를 통해 엘리야를 천국으로 데리고 갔습니다. 남겨진 엘리사는 엘리야의 영적 능력을 받게 되었고 사람들은 그 앞에 절을 하였습니다. 우리 아이이 날마다 하나님의 능력을 신뢰하고 믿는 믿음의 아이들 되기를 기도합니다.

The sermon for this Sunday worship is about Elijah and Elisha. Now it was time for Elijah’s life on earth to be over. God wanted him to pass his job on to another man. God told the prophet Elijah to find a man named Elisha. During the next ten years, Elijah taught everything he knew about being a true prophet of God. Finally, Elisha was ready to take over Elijah’s job. When the time came for the Lord to take Elijah up to heaven, Elijah asked Elisha what he can do for Elisha. Elisha answered that he wants a double portion of the spirit that Elijah has. Suddenly, a chariot of fire with horses of fire appeared from the sky. The whirlwind caught Elijah up and took him up toward heaven in the chariot of fire. Elisha had received the power of God like Elijah, and people bowed down before him. We pray that our children become children of faith who always trust and believe in God’s power.
