Look,” they told him, “you are now old, and your sons are not like you. Give us a king to judge us like all the other nations have.” (New Living Translation)

이번주일 아이들 설교말씀은 이스라엘의 첫 왕 사울 왕 이야기 입니다. 사무엘이 이스라엘을 다시리던 시기 이스라엘 사람들은 끊임없이 왕을 요구하였습니다. 이에 사무엘은 하나님께 기도를 드렸고, 하나님께서는 그들의 요청을 들어주셨습니다. 이에 사무엘은 베냐민 지파의 사울에게 기름을 부어 이스라엘의 첫 왕으로 삼았습니다. 사람들은 키가 크고 용모가 뛰어난 사울을 좋아했습니다. 왕이 된 사울은 하나님 말씀에 순종하였지만, 곧 그는 하나님을 잊고 하나님 말씀에 불순종 하였습니다. 그는 제사장에게만 허락된 제사를 스스로 지내고 하나님께서 파괴하라고 하신 전리품을 취하였습니다. 하나님은 사울을 왕으로 세우신 것을 후회하시고 결국 하나님은 사울의 왕권을 그에게서 거두셨습니다. 우리 아이들은 날마다 하나님의 말씀에 순종하고 하나님의 말씀을 지키는 믿음의 어린이들 되기를 기도합니다.

Today’s story is about Saul, Israel’s first king. When Samuel ruled over Israel as a judge, the Israelites constantly wanted a king. So, Samuel prayed to God, and God answered their request. Samuel called Saul, who came from the tribe of Benjamin, and anointed him as the first king of Israel. The Israelites loved Saul, who was tall and handsome. After he became a king, Saul first obeyed but soon forgot and disobeyed God. Saul himself gave an offering to God, which was only allowed to the priests, and took treasures in a battle that God ordered him to destroy everything. God regretted that He made Saul as king, and took away his kingship. We pray that our children become the children of faith who obey and keep the words of God.
