본문말씀: 사사기 Judges 7:12-14

주님의 천사가 그에게 나타나서 “힘센 장사야, 주님께서 너와 함께 계신다” 하고 말하였다. 그러자 기드온이 그에게 되물었다. “감히 여쭙습니다만, 주님께서 우리와 함께 계신다면, 어째서 우리가 이 모든 어려움을 겪습니까? 우리 조상이 우리에게, 주님께서 놀라운 기적을 일으키시어 우리 백성을 이집트에서 인도해 내셨다고 말하였는데, 그 모든 기적들이 다 어디에 있단 말입니까? 지금은 주님께서 우리를 버리시기까지 하셔서, 우리가 미디안 사람의 손아귀에 넘어가고 말았습니다.” 그러자 주님께서 그를 바라보시며 말씀하셨다. “너에게 있는 그 힘을 가지고 가서, 이스라엘을 미디안의 손에서 구하여라. 내가 친히 너를 보낸다.” (새번역)

When the angel of the LORD appeared to Gideon, he said, “The LORD is with you, mighty warrior.” “Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but if the LORD is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our ancestors told us about when they said, ‘Did not the LORD bring us up out of Egypt?’ But now the LORD has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian.” The LORD turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand.” (New Revised Standard Version)

이번주일 아이들 설교말씀은 기드온의 이야기 입니다. 이스라엘은 다시금 하나님을 잊고 우상 숭배를 하였습니다. 하나님께서는 이스라엘을 그들의 원수의 손에 넘기셨고, 그들은 다시금 울부짖으며 하나님을 찾았습니다. 하나님께서는 기드온에게 하나님의 천사를 보내셨고, 그를 통해 이스라엘을 구원하겠다고 말씀하셨습니다. 하나님께서는 기드온에게 양털을 통한 기적을 보여주셨고, 마침내 기드온은 전장으로 나갈 준비를 하였습니다. 기드온에게 모인 삼만 이천명 중에 하나님은 테스트를 통과한 300명의 용사만을 남기셨습니다. 그들은 횟불을 들고 나팔을 불고 항아리를 깨며 미디안 사람들과 싸우지 않고 전쟁에서 승리하였습니다. 하나님은 기드온을 통하여 하나님의 방법으로 이스라엘을 구원하셨습니다. 우리 아이들도 언제나 하나님의 방법을 신뢰하고 따르는 믿음의 자녀들 되기를 기도합니다.

The sermon for this Sunday worship is about the story of Gideon. The Israelites once again forgot about God and worshiped false gods. God handed them over to their enemy, and they cried out to God again. God sent an angel of the Lord to Gideon and told him that He will save the Israelite through Gideon. God showed the fleece miracle two times, and Gideon was finally ready to fight against the enemy. There were thirty-two thousand men behind Gideon, but God only allowed three hundred men who passed His test to fight. They won the battle by carrying torches, blowing their trumpets, and breaking the jars, instead of fighting against their enemy. God used Gideon to save the Israelites in His way. We pray that our children become the children of faith who always trust and obey God.
