아론이 그들에게 말하였다. “여러분의 아내와 아들 딸들이 귀에 달고 있는 금고리들을 빼서, 나에게 가져 오시오.” 모든 백성이 저희 귀에 단 금고리들을 빼서, 아론에게 가져 왔다. 아론이 그들에게서 그것들을 받아 녹여서, 그 녹인 금을 거푸집에 부어 송아지 상을 만드니, 그들이 외쳤다. “이스라엘아! 이 신이 너희를 이집트 땅에서 이끌어 낸 너희의 신이다.” (새번역)

Aaron said to them, “Take off the gold rings that are on the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me.” So all the people took off the gold rings from their ears, and brought them to Aaron. He took the gold from them, formed it in a mold, and cast an image of a calf; and they said, “These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt!” (New Revised Standard Version)

이번 주일 아이들 설교말씀은 황금 송아지를 숭배한 이스라엘의 이야기 입니다. 하나님께서 이스라엘 민족을 광야로 이끄시고 구름 기둥, 불기둥으로 함께 하셨습니다. 또한 그들에게 메추라기와 만나로 부족함 없게 하셨습니다. 시내산에서 모세는 하나님께 십계명을 받았지만 모세가 하나님을 만나러 시내산에 40일 동안 머무는 동안 산 아래에서 모세를 기다리던 이스라엘 민족은 곧 하나님의 은혜를 잊고 황금 송아지 상을 만들고 그 앞에서 춤을 추며 즐거워 하였습니다. 이를 보신 하나님께서는 이스라엘 백성을 멸하게 하겠다고 하셨고, 모세는 이스라엘을 대신하여 하나님께 용서를 구하였 습니다. 하나님께서는 아브라함, 이삭, 그리고 요셉의 언약을 기억하시고 그들에게 바로 벌을 주시지는 않으셨습니다. 시내산에서 내려온 모세는 들고 있던 두 돌판을 내리쳐 부수었으며, 황금 송아지상을 파괴해버렸습니다. 다음 날 모세는 다시 시내산으로 올라가 하나님 앞에 용서를 구하고 하나님께서는 모세에게 다서 두 돌판에 하나님의 율법과 가르침들을 새겨주셨습니다. 우리 아이들도 모세와 같이 늘 하나님께 집중하고 주님 앞으로 나아오는 믿음의 자녀들 되기를 기도합니다.

The sermon for this Sunday worship is the story about the Israelites worshipping the golden calf. God led the Israelites into the wilderness and protected them through the pillar of cloud and fire. God provided meat and manna so that they were not hungry. On the Mount Sinai, God gave the Ten Commandments to Moses. However, while Moses was staying on the mountain for 40 days, people under the mountain forgot the grace of God and made the statue of a golden calf. They worshiped the golden calf and danced before it. When God saw their sins and decided to destroy them, Moses asked God for forgiveness on their behalf. God remembered the great promise that He had made to Abraham, Isaac, and Joseph, and suspended His punishment. Moses went down the mountain, smashed the tablets, and destroyed the golden calf. He went up Mount Sinai the next day and asked God for forgiveness. God gave His laws and instructions once more on two new tablets. We pray that our children become the children of faith like Moses who always have their eyes on God and remember God’s grace.
